Dear Patron !
There is an increasing demand for a skills-based education, where students will be equipped with the skills they need to navigate the changing world. Our children will need a basic set of skills to learn any subject. When they are very young, these foundational skills should be our focus. By developing their skills by using them in real life — real-time learning — children can see the value of the skill. The goal is to provide them with the skill set they need to learn any subject for themselves.
When people talk about a knowledge-based education, they are talking about a formal curriculum that imparts a broad base of general knowledge on traditional subjects. This approach is very content-focused. A skills-based education is one where the focus is on skills development rather than knowledge acquisition. This prioritizes student-led learning and helps students to develop different skills that they can apply across subjects and use in every area of their lives.
Ultimately, knowledge and skills are both essential foundations for a robust education that challenges students and pushes them to achieve their potential. Students cannot develop skills in a vacuum. Knowledge gives them a foundation for their learning but students need the time and opportunity to practice the skills which will help them to use it effectively. In this context, skills-based education is crucial. Students will need robust learning skills and the ability to think critically and creatively to thrive in the future world of work.
Collaborative learning is an approach that encourages students to work together in small groups. It is a way of shifting the focus from traditional, teacher-centered instruction to group-based activities and interactions among students. Through group discussions, problem-solving, projects and peer feedback, students work together to share ideas, build new skills and achieve learning goals. It has become more popular over recent years as a way of boosting student engagement and enhancing soft skills like critical thinking, communication and teamwork.
